World Day Against Trafficking In Persons 2020
Today on July 30, we honor World Day Against Trafficking In Persons, though our gatherings and events look different this year. Last year we partnered with Ark of Freedom Alliance for SUNFlower (#SeeUsNow) Proclamation and Awareness Rally, see more from that event here. This year, we’ve gathered various virtual events, trainings and livestreams to learn more and get-involved day-of, and have compiled an extensive list of resources so you can advocate and support this issue year-around.
Kristi House’s Project GOLD provides outreach and services to children exploited in sex trafficking to help them escape dangerous lives at the hands of traffickers and predators.
Project GOLD brought the Miami service provider community together around the issue of child sex trafficking in 2007, developed its program, and has been a leader nationally on the issue. The Project GOLD Drop In Center uses a strengths-based, survivor-advised approach to provide health, social and legal services linkages, mental health support and educational enrichment to sexually exploited girls. Kristi House partners with Ark of Freedom Alliance with the help of funding by the U.S. Department of Justice to provide outreach and services to LGBTQ youth overcoming sex trafficking.
