The Safe Dating program is a thorough research-based curriculum designed to educate and raise students’ awareness on what constitutes healthy and abusive dating relationships. Students will learn how to identify and not normalize abusive behaviors. They will understand why people abuse and be better equipped to reject abusive patterns and improve their ability to seek help and or offer help to a friend. Students are given an overview of skills that are necessary to develop healthy dating relationships, including positive communication, conflict resolution and how to question behavioral norms.
Students will engage in guided discussion on the following topics: caring relationships, dating abuse definition, gender stereotypes, interpreting signs, consent, sexual boundaries, and how to decrease chances of victimization.
